Original Designed Japanese Carp Rug by Christiane Millinger
Playful Japanese Carp against a lovely neutral background
Finding inspriation in Portlands Japanese Garden, Christiane sought to capture the revered status of the Japanese koi as well and the esthetic seen in many classic block prints from the Edo Period of Japan. The resulting rugh is a whimsical expression captured in hand-knotted wool. Woven with care in hand-spun yarns by a family of weavers in Northern Afghanistan, this rug is part of a program to improve the lives of those in the weaving industry as well as provide positive opportunities for their families.
