Created with the same integrity as the semi tribal Gabbeh rugs, Soumak woven textiles are some of the most precise and geometric traditional rugs available. Using a combination of woven techniques and knotting of pile in certain areas, each Soumak area rug becomes a 3 dimensional canvas. This particular piece depicts a traditional Persian garden layout with symbolic representations for the plots of land dedicated to certain trees and plants. 

The precise layout must be visualized as the foundation for the textile is strung up and only the most experienced weavers work on Balouch Soumaks. The size of this one is actually stunning in person. 

We are honored to work with the Zollanvari family to bring these truly heartfelt rugs to you, as well as showcase the beauty of craftsmanship of some of the worlds last semi-nomadic hearing and weaving groups. Each Gabbeh shows the touch and eye of its maker and these are some of our absolute favorite hand-woven, one-of-a-kind rugs and carpets that we are fortunate to still be able to offer.
