The green tones used in these rugs is made using buckthorn, also called Persian, berries when fully ripe. Green tones are also made by combining the yellow dyes produced from saffron, turmeric, and unripened berries with indigo dyes as well.

the orange tones are the result of using dyes made from such things as rinds pomegranates onion skins and also previously run batches red they become less concentrated.
