Landscape Gabbehs are rugs that typically show a series of hills, often with smaller animal shapes such as deer or birds, progressing toward a horizon. Being that the Qashqaii lived, and some still live as semi-nomadic herding groups one can imagine that these are sort of like snapshots of their travels and migrations.

Amazingly, all the colors seen here have been produced using dyes sourced from natural sources such as plants, fruits, vegetables, and minerals. Just as they were since rugs first being produced with color. The abstract patterns and color choices are entirely up to the individual weaver and their imagination.
