Neutral Toned Soumak and Looped Weave Allo Nettle 4x6 Area Rug
Durable and Sustainable, the Allo fiber has been treasured for its many uses.
This is a flat-woven 4x6 textile made from the fibers of the Allo plant. This large member of the nettle family grown in northern Nepal and has been processed for use in household textiles since time immemorial in the region by Gurung, Rai, and other peoples. The resulting woven items are durable, sustainable, and used in a variety of applications from rope and bags, to clothing and woven floor coverings, as we see here. The subtle pattern of alternating stripes is the result of two different weaving techniques being used.
