Same high quality wool as tribal Gabbeh rugs
Having historical access the same high quality wool used in Gabbeh rugs produced by the Qashqaii, the Lurs are a collection of tribal groups that live adjacent to the Qashqaii in Southwest Iran. While the Qashqaii speak a more Turkic dialect, the Luri Language is spoken by several of the tribes in the Zagros Mountains that have historically been known as Lurs. Luri, or Lori rugs tend to be more traditional in appearance versus the more tribal and abstract examples from the Qashqaii.
This Luri rug has a wonderful openness due to the field of natural white toned wool, which is also repeated in the border. A vase shape with colorful floral blossoms makes a directional central focal point. Several boteh shapes fill the border framed in red while dark blue spandel shapes fill the corners of the central ground nicely. The wool is the the same hand-spun, high quality mountian wool found in tribal Gabbeh rugs, so it is resistant to staining and wear.
