Bold and Angular Traditional Mamluk Pattern 9x12 Area Rug
Rusty Reds and Pistachio Greens in a Strong Geometric Arrangement Set Mamluk Rugs Apart.
Mamluk pattern hand-knotted in Afghanistan with traditional low shorn pile. Mamluks are a type of rug produced in modern day Egypt circa 1500's that have grown in popularity since to become a standard carpet pattern representing a strong tribal look while maintaining a distinct traditional theme that sets them apart from Persian or Turkish style rugs. The rusty red and pistachio green tones are the signature palette of Mamluk rugs, but some, like this one, do feature third tones such as the golden wheat color most prevalent in the border here.
This handmade area rug measures 9'0" x 11'8" and has a very durable low shorn pile, making it resistant to collecting debris opposed to deeper pile rugs. The asymmetrical geometric pattern and central eight pointed medallion framing a hexagon in red gives them a strong element to build a room around.
