Azer Pulse Heriz in Blue 6x9 From Jan Kath
Introducing the Azer Collection From Jan Kath
While traveling through the Middle and Far East in search of antique carpets, Jan Kath's grandfather had already discovered the Heriz geometric pattern that covered large textile expanses in what was then northwest Persia, in a region near Bakhshayesh, a town located in East Azerbaijan. On his return home, he took with him the most beautiful specimens for his customers in Germany, where he was a dealer in exclusive traditional carpets.
When Jan Kath studied the art of weaving in Azerbaijan, he rediscovered these designs in old black-and-white photographs from his family photo album. Now they’ve been brought back to life in his AZER PULSE collection.
As were the rugs of old, these new-quality revivals are produced with especially durable materials and are woven in workshops close to the city of Quba on the Caspian Sea. Their rustic knots are typical for this rural region. Here, “only” about 80,000 knots fill up a single square meter. This technique highlights the cool look of these carpets that are fashioned in bright colors.
