Traditional Luri Influenced 7x10 Gabbeh

Wonderful Tree of Life Gabbeh

Gabbehs often depict a Tree of Life, as it is symbolized in Persian rugs representing the connection between earth and environment through its roots and outreaching branches. Folklore holds that a Zoroastrian Prophet planted a cypress tree that grew large enough to shelter 10,000 sheep beneath it and support countless birds within it and remains a metaphor for the connectivity between all things often seen in rugs from the region. This one seems to represent the fine interweaving of the branches among one another as they bloom with a variety of different flora.
