This incredibly rich blue is, believe it or not, entirely from natural plant sources. The indigo plant found along the migration routes of the Zagros Mountains has been used to produce dyes for thousands of years in the same manner that the Qashqaii people that knotted this runner have. The subtle variety of tone and shade from strand to strand of the hearty high altitude wool has the affect of creating incredible depth within these rugs.
