Handmade Traditional Luri Gabbeh

Hand-knotted in Southern Iran
The Lurs are a tribal group in Western Iran that have contributed greatly to the production and refinement of handmade rugs and textile in the region. Often more organized than the more whimsical Gabbeh rugs, rugs woven by the Lurs tend to have more of the traditional motifs, such as borders and sub-borders, corner spandrels, and open lozenge shaped central fields. This particular on features a lovely willow tree in green against a central field of un-dyed wool in it's center The wool used this rug is the same high quality hand-spun wool used in Gabbeh rugs for its durability, and the pile is dense and roughly a half an inch thick. The same naturally sourced dyes are used in here as well, resulting in the deep rich reds produced by using the root of the madder plant.
