Massal fabrics are a blending of three different techniques from three areas of Northern Iran; Kordi, Gilaki, and Azeri Turki. These fabrics have been used for everything from floor coverings, to blankets, to heavy clothing used by nomadic shepherds. Made on narrow looms as strips, then sewn together into the desired size, Kilims add a rustic charm and casual quality to a space where a traditional pile carpet might feel too formal.
