6953 Kashkuli Gabbeh in Red 2x4
Handmade Red Kashkuli Gabbeh Rug
Materials: Handspun Wool and Naturally Sourced Dyes
Hand-knotted in Southern Iran
Classic red Gabbeh rug. The iconic red color comes from the use of madder root to produce the dyes just as wevaers have been using for thousands of years. The Madder plant take 5 to 7 years to mature before it is ready to be harvested for use in dye making. This in conjunction with the natural variation in pigments in the sheep's wool creates the variety and depth gabbeh rugs are loved for.
