Colorful Squares in a Blue Field 3x5 Gabbeh
Whimsical Landscape of Camels, Plants, and Trees, and Color.
This cheerful little Gabbeh features whimsical blue fields populated by a caravan of camels crossing in the center and several colorful squares of red, orange, ivory and gold. Small symbolic trees are lined across it in several rows. The blue dye used in this piece is derived from the indigo plant. The high altitude wool cultivated from the sheep of the Zagros Mountains is rich in lanolin and produces a yarn that is some of the best for the production of rugs and carpets. The retention of the natural lanolin has the added benefit of producing a rug that is as resilient to staining and soiling as it is soft and supple to the touch.
