Beige Grey and Burgundy 5x7 Sherkarlou Gabbeh
Portal Design Shekarlou Rug
The Shekarlou Gabbehs are a more supple and finer feeling carpet than either the Amaleh and Kashkuli rugs in the Gabbeh family. This is owed to Shekarlous being made using only a single weft running horizontally in the foundation vs a double weft used in the foundations of their more rustic and tribal counterparts. The result is a carpet that feels slightly more fine under foot and in hand. these rugs often do without the borders common to Luri produced rugs and the more abstracted whimsical graphics seen in the Kashkuli pieces.
